Meet Tiny Light Tegan. This little fashionista loves to dance, read and sing. She especially loves hanging out with her big sister Jessie, playing hide-and-seek and watching movies.
At just 2 years old, Tegan’s parents brought her to the hospital after noticing a series of abnormal behaviour and symptoms. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Their initial reaction was shock mixed with a thousand questions “...Cancer? Really? MY BABY? Who decided this? Why her? Why us? Why any child?”
Tegan’s treatment has consisted of not only chemotherapy but also steroids, blood thinners and countless other drugs. She achieved remission after her first phase of treatment and is now three years of age and undergoing her last “intense phase” of chemotherapy. She will start her long term maintenance program in the spring with the aim to complete all treatment by October 2013.
Tegan and her family “...fight the fight day by day, moment by moment.” Her parents hope that their tiny light will grow to become a “...strong, confident, happy woman,” and want her to find whatever will make her happy in life. As a message to others, Tegan’s parents say to always “trust your instincts as a parent...[and have]...hope, faith and trust in everyone and everything...hang on to these, and you will see the light at the end of all the dark tunnels.”
