Meet Tiny Light Silas.  He loves to ride bikes, go to beaver scouts and read books – especially books by Robert Munsch!  He also enjoys collecting postcards and has a few from as far away as Abu Dhabi.

Medical professionals are still working to determine Silas’ overall diagnosis.  Since he was nine weeks old, he has suffered from seizures, migraines, bowel trouble, failure to thrive, allergies, behavioural and developmental delays.  He is at high risk for mental health issues due to the trauma he has experienced with his health.  Silas struggles in so many different areas that doctors have been unable to verify a concrete diagnosis and consider his case “a puzzle.”

Although the lack of diagnosis in Silas’ case is difficult to deal with, his mom remains hopeful that doctors will find an answer and be able to provide him with treatment.  Through this experience, she has come to realize the extent of her strength and courage as a single mom and looks to Silas as inspiration since he “never gives up!”

As a message to others dealing with similar situations, Silas’ mom says, “It’s okay to cry and grieve ... keep fighting and [be] your child’s best advocate.  Moms know best.”
