Meet Tiny Light Britany. She enjoys cooking, reading, and just hanging out with her family.
Britany was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome – a congenital heart defect where the left ventricle of the heart is significantly underdeveloped. Although Britany’s mom intuitively felt that something was wrong throughout her pregnancy, medical professionals assured her that all was well, and Britany’s condition went undetected until she was over four months old. Since her diagnosis, Britany has undergone three open-heart surgeries and has also been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Despite the fact that Britany faces medical challenges, she is a very happy child with a passion for life that inspires her family. Britany’s mom credits her daughter’s journey for making their family stronger than they could have thought possible. As a message to other families with similar journeys, Britany’s mom says, “Look to others for strength and talk to them about your feelings ... never give up hope that they will survive.”
