Meet Tiny Light twins Nate and Gavin. These little ones love music, singing and dancing. They especially love listening to old cassette tapes so they can pause, rewind and fast forward to their favourite tunes.

Nate and Gavin were born at 25 weeks gestation and spent five months in the NICU after both suffered severe brain bleeds at just two days old. Both Nate and Gavin are now blind as a result of excessive oxygen requirements shortly after birth. They also both have developmental delays and have suffered from seizures, which are currently being treated with medication.

Although the journey for Nate and Gavin has not been an easy one, they have persevered and amazed their family with their accomplishments. Their parents Georgina and Paul were particularly inspired by their ability to teach themselves things such as crawling. “They figured out they needed to hit the floor loudly to hear obstacles...sweep their hand in front of them in order to avoid bumping into things.” As a result of their strong determination, Gavin has recently begun to walk.

The family hopes that their Tiny Lights know how much they are loved and urge other parents to not compare their child to others. “That can so easily drag a person down and force them to miss all the wonderful things their child does do.” Nate and Gavin’s parents are “so thankful for everyday and marvel at how much they have taught [them].”
